Ms Palavi sued Queensland Newspapers Pty Ltd, publisher of The Courier Mail newspaper, for defamation over the publication of reader comments last April imputing she was a ''slut'', and that she ''engages in disgraceful and sexually promiscuous conduct'', among other imputations.

She sought aggravated damages. Lawyers for the defence handed up the judgment in a similar slander suit filed against radio station 2UE last November.

In dismissing her claim last year, Judge Andrew Colefax said Ms Palavi disposed of evidence such as her mobile phones and computers that were relevant to the two imputations.

In the NSW Supreme Court Justice Henric Nicholas said he accepted the missing phones and computers might have contained sexually explicit images relevant to the proceedings.

He said she ''acted with the intention of destroying or otherwise rendering unavailable such material before she commenced these proceedings''.

Ms Palavi was ordered to pay costs.
