Queensland's acting Premier Paul Lucas says he hopes to have an independent report into the Queensland Health (QH) pay fiasco in the next few days.

Thousands of workers have been underpaid, overpaid, or not paid at all since the rollout of a new system two months ago.

More than 400 workers were shortchanged in this week's pay run.

Mr Lucas says he hopes to take a KPMG audit of the system to Cabinet on Monday.

"One of the things that in my opinion we just must do is we must have it sorted out by the end of the financial year," he said.

"I don't want people mucked around at the end of the financial year by not having their appropriate pay for that year."
