ELDERLY Gold Coast residents may have lost thousands in an alleged sophisticated time share accommodation scam.

Two Victorian men were yesterday arrested after allegedly posing as time share agents and selling non-existent holiday upgrades.

Victorian Police Acting Sergeant Sharon Darcy alleged the men had scammed over 30 victims out of thousands of dollars since October 2008.

``We have had victims come forward from throughout Australia and New Zealand, and there was quite a few from Queensland,'' she said.

``They were predominantly elderly people.''

Sgt Darcy said police would allege the men had telephoned time share holders and offered them discount deals to extend their annual holidays.

Police were contacted after the victims paid, but failed to receive confirmation paperwork.

The phone number the bogus traders gave the victims was disconnected when they attempted to make inquiries.

Sgt Darcy said anyone who had dealt with men trading under the business names of Movacation, Aussie time share and Minivacation should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
