A LNP staffer in the State Opposition's office has written a damning resignation letter, providing some glimpse into the tension surrounding the desertion of maverick MPs Aidan McLindon and Rob Messenger.
Strategist Jessica Christmas offered her resignation to John-Paul Langbroek on Monday night, warning that "insanity" prevailed in the office.
She wrote that she'd resigned in outrage, after listening to her colleagues speak "in glee about crushing and destroying" Mr McLindon and Mr Messenger.
She said that when she questioned the alleged retaliation strategy, she was told "If you throw enough mud . . . it will stick".
"I cannot be part of a pre-meditated affair that is being launched against previous LNP members," she wrote.
She said it was ironic that there was little talk of crushing the true enemy – the Labor Party.
Ms Christmas said she was loyal to Mr Langbroek, and was "heartbroken" to leave.
An Opposition spokesman denied the claims, and said Ms Christmas was a "junior staffer".
He said she would not be privy to the things she alleged and was on the second lowest pay bracket in the office.
..........................................................................................................................COMMENT: If insanity has truly engulfed the LNP leadership in Queensland,
John-Paul Langbroek and his gang is more than welcome to try out some
local facilities near Ipswich where their medical condition can be quickly
assessed and efficiently treated. But the way the LNP is going, regular shock
therapy might be the only way to bring them out of the political crevasse they
have crawled into.
